I had a bride ask me, "what's a groom's cake?". It was kind of surprising to me because being in the South, that's a given. But for those of you who have never heard of it here goes. A groom's cake is a Victorian wedding tradition. It was said that if a single woman took a slice of the cake home with her and placed it under her pillow, she would dream of her future husband.
Today, the cake is typically served on the wedding day in addition to the bride's cake or can be served at the rehearsal dinner the night before. The groom usually has a say in the flavor and style (i.e. favorite sports, colors, employment).
A groom's cake is not a "must have", especially if you're wanting to cut costs and use the money elsewhere. Be sure to check with your beau to see if he wants his own cake or prefers to use that extra money towards other wedding expenses.
