Ask the Planner: Invitations and Gifts

Question:  Is it appropriate for me to include my gift registry in my wedding invitations?

Our Response:
This question does come up quite a bit.  But as much as we don't want to tell you NO to anything this is one that we advise you not to do.  No gift information or cash/gift card requests should be included in your wedding invitation.  Including this information could send off a message that you are more interested in the gift than your guest that you are inviting.

However, you can include this information on your wedding website, blog, and shower invitation.  Make sure that your mom, bridal party, and other gal pals know where you are registered so that they can share this information with others.

We'd like to hear from you, what are your thoughts on including gift information in wedding invitations?

Y'ermain+Latriece's Modern Invitations

My August couple, Latriece and Y'ermain were a thrill to work with. They wanted photo invitations that truly expressed their style and personalities. PTRE delivered and the invites turned out FABULOUS!

The Front

The Back

The invitations were printed on a heavyweight shiny card and sealed in a metallic pink envelope. Congratulations, Latriece and Y'ermain! I can't wait to share pictures of your recent nuptials, too.

I See Swirls

I had the opportunity to design an invitation for a fabulous couple who wed on Saturday (Oct.4). I was surprised to see that the invitation was the inspiration for the cake design...how neat! Not only did the cake look good, it was Delicious!

Drawn To The Occasion

I really don't know what I was searching for on the web but I did find this cool site, NY Sketches that offers custom caricature stationery. This is great for rehearsal dinner invites, bridal/bachelorette parties, and even children's parties. You're talkin' about personalized. Just so you'll know, they do not give price quotes via email. You will have to submit your information and then a representative will personally speak to you regarding your event and style of invite.

{I'm back and with a treat}

I am back from a week's vacation {atleast from doing office work}. I had to get ready for the fall for my "day" job at a high school. And, I'm uber excited about the Fall fashions and wedding finds.

{the treat}
Well, as a welcome gift back I had to share the above invitation with you. It is absolutely one of a kind and I would love to get one of these in the mail. I would anticipate attending a wedding fit for the Silver Screen. I found it on a local Arkansan's wedding planner's blog and she provided the link to the Etsy shop that created the great find. Enjoy!

More Than Just An Image

I had the pleasure to work with an up and coming business owner, Sherri with Refining Images-an image consulting firm. She is preparing for her business opening with an elegant celebration. I was asked to design her logo, invitation, and water bottle labels as favors. Congratulations, Sherri!

Fab+Green::Eco Friendly+Stylish Invites

I ran across this great site that is committed to producing fabulous invitations and stationery without causing harm to the environment, Jayda Online located in Coral Springs, Florida. The company offers a variety of stylish wedding and party invitations, enclosures, save the dates, and stickers.

Unlike what you may have seen once eco friendly stationery came about, Jayda's creative approach to their stationery design doesn't include the speckles, seedlings or flower inserts in their invitations or announcements paper. Their products will give customers an opportunity to make a personal and social statement! Jayda's invitations and announcements are printed on 100% cotton paper made from recovered cotton materials from the textile industry. Cotton is a renewable resource, recyclable and totally tree-free.

For more information and styles, visit them at http://www.jaydaonline.com/ or call them at 866.993.5454.

It's a boy!!!

I posted a while back about my dear friend announcing the upcoming birth of her first child. I was delighted that she thought of me to plan her baby shower and trust me to do so. Well, she found out that she's having a baby boy and now we are ready to incorporate her chosen colors of Blue, Chocolate, and Ivory into the shower theme. These colors are also going to be the colors used in his nursery. So my inspiration for the invitation came from what you see below. The polkadot circles will also be used throughout the shower to tie everything together. I'll definitely keep you posted.
